OUR CHOICE TO BE ECOFRIENDLY

We contain costs by designing furniture that is essential and functional. This is what we mean by eco-friendly furniture- a series of design choices with concrete effects on the environment and the aim of eliminating waste and lengthening the useful life of everything we design.
Characterized by our hallmark style, here is a list of ten things which expresses our beliefs and which imbibes our work:

Eco-friendly furniture rulebook (according to us)
Everybody talks about natural, sustainable or ecological furniture these days, often without even specifying what makes them so, trying to appeal to the increased sensibility of consumers to these topics, as a marketing strategy.
In our opinion, the criteria to define what makes a piece of furniture eco-friendly are numerous and rigorous:

1. Eco-friendly furniture has to be made of natural materials, not necessarily recycled ones. Although recycling doesn’t use up natural resources, they are not quality materials and they are not produced respecting environmentally friendly standards.

2. Eco-friendly furniture is high-quality and has to be long-lasting: its long useful life generates less waste, with real benefits for the environment.

3. Eco-friendly furniture is made from wood which comes from well-managed forests, where the cutting is planned and meets Forest Stewardship Council standards.

4. Natural furniture resects the communities of people who live in forest regions, and have often lived there for centuries, for whom the forest is a source of richness and a necessity for survival.

5. All of our furniture can be disassembled for transport and storage and the packaging is minimal so as to reduce waste.

6. We avoid using screws and metal elements that wear down over time, making the joints and the furniture weak. Our furniture is designed to be assembled and disassembled time and time again, without the joints losing efficiency.

7. Everything we design is meant to be used for a long, long time.

8. Furniture should be transformable, according to the size and shape of the space it is placed in. This is why many pieces are modular: bookcases can be modified and enlarged or reduced by adding or removing modules; children’s furniture transform so that they can be used for a longer period of time; drawers and containers can be recomposed or added to in order to create new items.

9. Our furniture is lightweight because the materials we use are lightweight. But their construction makes them very strong and robust, able to support 30 times their weight.

10. The materials are recognizable. The surfaces can be colored or polished, using natural finishes or oils, without altering their appearance.
